Exhibition "Exceeding Expectations"

On Tuesday November 1 at 19:00 in the gallery "Peresvet Lane" Association "Exhibition Halls of Moscow" will open a personal exhibition of Anna Shestakova "Exceeding Expectations." The exhibition will feature a camera series of photographs taken as part of the project, which won the Open Exhibition Workshops of the Moscow Exhibition Halls association.

The “Exceeding Expectations” exhibition is the result of a study of the modern information space of the Don and Danilovsky district: print ads, signboards, social advertising. The artist focuses on the visual representation and rethinking of territory, mythology and the historical narrative surrounding it.

Anna Shestakova: “I am returning home for shelter. My home is me and my world. Only I decide what appears in it. The door is my filter. A street is an inexhaustible resource of the “other”. I am returning to the street. I absorb reality around me like a sponge. I am returning home with purchases, acquisitions, with clean water in a plastic bottle. Sometimes with experience, knowledge, feeling, with a billion pictures in my head and 16 gigabytes of data in my phone. Hard drive capacity is the only limit for sharing my experience with others. "I am transferring objects, monuments and obelisks of my experiences to the exhibition space."

Anna Shestakova is an artist. Lives and works in Vienna and Berlin. She studied at the VASHGD (Higher Academic School of Graphic Design) and the Rodchenko School. Since 2010, she studies at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. The first solo exhibition was held in 2011 at Pro Choice (Austria, Vienna). Member of group exhibitions in Moscow, London, New York, Berlin, Stockholm, Oslo, Leipzig, Vienna, Turin, Tallinn, Vilnius, Samara, Prague.

November 1, 19:00 - opening of the exhibition November 2, 19:30 - round table with Anna Shestakova, Andrey Parshikov and Sergey Guskov. During the meeting, the artist, curator and critic will discuss the exhibition, motivation and working conditions of the young artist in a modern context.
