Exhibition "The Attraction of Realism. The Art of the Young. Painting, Sculpture, Graphics"

From April 8 to April 30, 2017, the exhibition “The pull of realism. The art of the young. Painting, sculpture, graphics. " The exhibition will feature more than 200 works by contemporary realist artists.

The Russian academic school of painting is always respected and is rightfully considered one of the strongest schools in the world. Like Russian literature, it is one of the highest achievements of our culture and one of its most noticeable contributions to the treasury of human heritage. Traditionally strong in its academic wing, Russian painting has gained the greatest fame in this field.

Due to various circumstances, today’s realistic art is not familiar to a wide audience. Meanwhile, realism in contemporary art not only exists, but is also actively developing. A vivid example of this is the project "The Attraction of Realism", which brought together both young artists and recognized masters of modern realistic art - Ivan Balashov, Nikolai Vryasov, Dinu Bezborodov, Valery Belykh, Mileush Gataullin, Vitaliy Grafov, Dmitry Gusev, Evgeny Demakov, Yaroslav Zyablov, Leonid Ilyukhin, Semyon Kozhin, Alexei Krotov, Olga Kurilova, Julia Lenkova, Viktor Matorin, Anastasia Nesterova, Nadezhda Pestova, Anna Prushinskaya, Ilya Ptichkina, Ilya Rozhkova, Irina Smenina, Elena Tyazhkorob, Vasily Khudyova and Chasechkin, Sergei Chunin, Ilya Shanin, Alexander and Alexei Shchemelinsky. All of them are related by the classical education received at the Moscow State Academic Art Institute. V. I. Surikov and the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture I. S. Glazunov, as well as the belief in the possibility of "large" themes in art and vital unifying ideas that are realized in the form of a "big picture".

The exhibition project "The Attraction of Realism" appeared in 2009. Echoing the long traditions of Russian painting, the exhibition has a mobile status. This simplifies the dialogue of the artist with the viewer and removes many of the barriers inherent in art unions and similar organizations. The main exhibition of this year’s project with the subtitle “Art of the Young” will be held at the Sergey Andriyaka School of Watercolor from April 8 to 30, 2017.
