Exhibition of works by Z.K. Tsereteli in Astrakhan

September 29, 2014 Ministry of Culture of the Astrakhan Region, Astrakhan Picture Gallery named after P.M. Dogadina and the Russian Academy of Arts in the gallery halls present an exhibition of works by the largest monumental artist, People’s Artist of the USSR and the Russian Federation, President of the Russian Academy of Arts, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador ZK Tsereteli.

The opening of the exhibition will take place as part of the summit of the heads of the Caspian littoral states, which will be attended by the presidents of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan. At a meeting in Astrakhan, they will discuss a number of issues relating to the status of the Caspian and international cooperation in the Caspian territory.

The choice of Astrakhan as the venue for the summit is not accidental. This city is often called the capital of Russia in the Caspian Sea, in which effective partnerships with these countries in various fields of activity are carried out. In addition, Astrakhan has many attractions, including the art gallery named after P.M. Dogadin, the merchant who created the museum based on his collection, occupies a special place. The collection of this museum contains works by famous Russian artists of the 18th-20th centuries, a unique collection of paintings from the late XIX - early. XX centuries., Including the Russian avant-garde.

The exposition includes about 60 works created over the past decade - painting, enamel, sculpture, represented by easel works and genre bronze reliefs.

The extraordinary strength of character, tireless energy, a constant experimental search allowed Z.K. Tsereteli in his work to master all kinds, genres and techniques of fine art. In the master’s paintings, reality inspired by childhood memories, scenes from the life of old Tbilisi, and creative imagination actively interact, generate new vivid images and worlds filled with the artist’s energy and emotions. The characters of his works freely move from one art form to another, each time showing unexpected plastic and coloristic decisions.

Impressive memorials, monumental sculptural compositions and monuments created by the master are installed in various cities of Russia and many countries of the world.

One of the outstanding achievements of Tsereteli in the field of fine art are works made in the technique of cloisonne enamel. As a result of lengthy experiments, the master brought the art of creating cloisonne enamel to a qualitatively different level - enriched the palette, improved the technological process for creating enamels, which made it possible to create monumental enamel panels, unique volumetric enamels.

The artist is full of new bold creative plans that will soon be embodied.
