The exhibition “RayON. 0 "in the genre of the" immersive museum. " The exposition includes historical artifacts of sleeping areas, a performative program, lectures, discussions and the first vertical cinema in Russia.
The project “RayON. 0 ”is an interdisciplinary exhibition of 20-35-year-old artists, reflecting on the experience of post-Soviet existence. She will tell about the everyday life of the residents of "concrete suburbs" and the history of panel construction. The authors invite to think about the sleeping areas of Moscow and the growing "unified" heritage of the XX-XXI centuries, recognizing the world of multi-story buildings - the inevitable future for all human civilization, and, therefore, a zone of collective responsibility. The exhibition is complemented by an educational program and performative practices.
The project manager and curator of the historical part is Alina Saprykina, director of the Moscow Museum. The curators of the modern section are graduates of the experimental course of Evgeny Kamenkovich and Dmitry Krymov of the GITIS directing department: Denis Sazonov, Alina Brovina and Yegor Matveyev.
Alina Saprykina: “The historical part of the exposition - a realistic reconstruction of the period of“ timelessness ”- immerses the life of Moscow suburbs on the break of the Soviet era of the 1970-1990s. The focus is on the sleeping areas of the city and their object-clothing world, settled in the collection of the Museum of Moscow. A number of colleagues created a total installation - the everyday life of the sleeping areas is shown through the optics of modern art, which has revived the history and rethought it. Here is “RayON. 0 ”is a kind of cultural designer, with the help of which young artists modeled a new language acceptable to their generation. The combination of these two times and spaces is the most interesting part of the project. ”
The exhibition, which combines objects of urban history and works of modern art, overcomes the usual museum borders, and the reality of Russian cities is shown in a new focus. Artists apply the substantive look of the younger generations to the comprehension of the “panel” heritage - a hybrid of ironic comments to the stereotypical life “on the district” and social ideas for immediate changes in each city.
Mikhail Fomkin will present his “Sheshnashki” his work, in which he watches serial houses in different cities of Russia through a game of tag, Christina Kolesnikova in the object “Blanket” will express children’s phobias from memories of a sleeping area in the petchwork technique, and Catherine Zlai will create the installation “Here you can officially baton”, made of typical furniture in a typical apartment using only the most typical product in the country.
For the architectural solution of the exhibition, an image of an endless grid was chosen. The grid symbolizes any "panel" area. It simultaneously unites and separates objects, like the architecture of sleeping margins — it ignores and absorbs the natural habitat of a person. This leads to the constant construction of new levels and the war for every centimeter.
The video program is a separate area of the exhibition space with the first vertically oriented cinema in Russia and a repertoire of commercials and films specially prepared for the project in this format.
An integral part of the project “RayON. 0 ”is a performative program prepared by the artistic director of the exhibition, Egor Matveyev. Headliners - dilogy performances of "HR: Citizen" and "HR: Artist" from the laboratories of Gogol School. The performance “HR: Citizen” is dedicated to the residents of Moscow, it involves objects of historical heritage from the funds of the Museum of Moscow. The production of “HR: Artist” tells about the authors of the modern part of the exhibition and about the world history.
Also, the spectators are waiting for the plastic performance “The Infinite” by the choreographer of the Gogol Center Igor Sharoyko and the Dialog students. Lab, musical experiments of the band "Sound Geometry" from the CDR and performance, supervised by the theater magazine "Intentions".
The lecture and discussion program is devoted to rethinking Soviet traditions and the concept of a “new norm” for modern man.
