Exhibition of Sergey Lotsmanov "Planet Map" in the gallery "On the Shabolovka" Automatic translate
April 10 in the gallery "On Shabolovka" will open the exhibition of Sergei Lotsmanov "Planet Map".
The exhibition is a new series of paintings that depict city landscapes of the virtual world. The artist explores virtual reality and the language of signs surrounding us in an infinitely growing information stream.
The author uses a minimalist style, deliberately simplifies expressive means, resorts to the tradition of geometric landscape. In the paintings we see deserted horizons, skies and sidewalks, details of everyday city life - road markings, barriers, transmission lines - devoid of, at first glance, individuality.
Stas Shuripa: “What Sergey Lotsmanov’s works tell about social spaces can be learned from the soundless speech of the most common things, from reading the environment as a notation that resembles a child’s designer, words in a half-familiar language or an icon on the display.”
Sergey Lotsmanov: “A picture is an instant, a complex model of gaze, endlessly looped“ here and there ”: a continuous recursion of space loops attention on itself, trying to extract from this meaningless in essence action the smallest piece of the present“ here and now. ”
Larisa Grinberg (curator of the gallery on the Shabolovka): “One of the most important tasks of art in general is to comprehend the present time and the space surrounding us, reflection and display. One of the most important tasks of our gallery is to build a dialogue between art and the environment, art and residents of the surrounding areas, involving them in the process of decentralized art. The work of Sergey Lotsmanov corresponds to both of these tasks. ”
Sergey Lotsmanov was born in Estonia in the city of Tartu. Graduated from the Tallinn Academy of Fine Arts and the Institute of Contemporary Art. The first solo exhibition was held as part of the special project “Winzavod” All-Russian Exhibition Center “Start” in 2009. Repeatedly exhibited with personal and group exhibitions in the "Gallery 21".
Organizers:
