April 7, 2017 at 17-30 in the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts, with the support of the Embassy of Finland in the Russian Federation, the opening of the exhibition of the Finnish photographer Martti Rikkonen will take place.
Beautiful winter landscapes, artist’s favorite places, mesmerizing pictures of the Northern Lights, fabulous snow-covered nature dresses - all this is the creative material of the exhibition of the famous Finnish photographer, united by the poetic name “Blue Moment”.
The resident of the village of Inari Martti Rikkonen is long, the dark winter does not suppress, on the contrary: the alternation of the seasons makes his life brighter. Polar night, severe frost, moonlight, flashes of the northern lights, on the one hand, and the first ray of sunshine after deep darkness, on the other hand, give the master of photography the necessary creative impulses and create the necessary environment for him to work in order to capture amazing the beauty of the phenomenon of northern nature. With the onset of spring, the light becomes many times more, and in the end, the “blue moment” can be caught only during the current of the capercaillie in front of the masked “saturation” of the photographer. The exhibition, exhibited at the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts, consists of photographs taken in Northern Lapland: most of the photographs are from the vicinity of Inari and the Pallastunturi hills. Some of the photographs were shot in the immediate vicinity of the photographer’s house.
Each photograph taken, each photograph has its own special story, which is reflected in the labels for photographs, which are not so much informational in nature as reflect the solemnity of the instant of creating the image, the poetic state of the artist’s soul at the time of the photograph: “Moonlit night of November - come true fairy tale ”,“ The Blue Moment ”in the middle of winter lasts and lasts both in the soul of man and in nature”
The photographs depict a variety of winter conditions, unusual atmospheric phenomena for most Russians, amazing landscapes, rare species of birds wintering in forests. Winter is not the easiest time for the photographer, but sometimes it generously rewards the patient. Nevertheless, the photographer must be extremely vigilant so as not to miss the “Blue Moment”, which can easily end while the camera is taken out of the bag.
The exhibition of the photographer Rikkonen will be the first meeting of residents of the Kaluga region with the art of Finland. The work of the beautiful Finnish photo master, addressed to all age categories of viewers without exception, will find many fans among them, and maybe someone will force them to pick up the camera to catch their own “blue moment”.
