Exhibition "CO-PENETRATION" (installation, mixed media)

The exhibition “Co-penetration” is a visual reflection on personification and identity, on the mutual penetration of individual phenomena from one culture to another. The project is represented by the total installation of three artists, where each object is a voice in a common diffusion, choir, ensemble. However, the chorus is not one common idea-identity, but a combination, a combination of several voices in one polyphonic chapel, which is already an inherent individuality.

Belonging to the generation born in the USSR in the 80s, when a single ideological community stood over a national or other identity, being a reflection of the multifaceted ethnic groups of a multinational country, unites artists at an early stage of their formation. In the process of developing and determining their gender, creative affiliation, they developed their own strategies and artistic methods. By combining them today, at a new stage in their self-development, they refused to personify: from the signatures of the works and their isolated location in the exhibition space, thereby showing the dispersion, dispersion, erosion of the identity of each artist.

The result of this process is different from the previous state of universal indivisibility. The refusal from personification, from the ownership of each object to a specific author, occurs not only at the formal level, but also at the development stage: all projects literally coexist in a single field, as they are created in the space of a common workshop. Thus, habitual self-determinations are mixed, and cultures penetrate each other, ethnic boundaries are also washed away, but at the same time, they continue to be present inside a collective utterance belonging to everyone.

Olga Karjakina is an artist, born in Nizhny Novgorod, lives and works in Moscow. In 2006 she graduated from the Graphics department of Moscow State Press University. Yana Smetanina is an artist, lives and works in Moscow. She graduated from the school of animated cinematography, the Printing Institute, then the Institute of Contemporary Art Problems. Moss member.
