The Gallery of Classical Photographs together with the Union of Artists of Georgia presents a collective exhibition of works by contemporary Georgian artists.
Within the exposition, uniting several decades of Georgian art culture, 57 artists will present their works, from recognized masters to representatives of the younger generation. More than two hundred works collected at the exhibition create an incredible world in which generations, moods and genres not only harmoniously coexist with each other, but also reveal the colorful reality of the modern art world of Georgia. Here is a train floating in the fog on the canvas of Besik Arborishvili, and people in the paintings of Lado Tevdoradze, reminiscent of the heroes of good children’s tales and the deep image of the woman Lia Shvelidze. Most of the works will be exhibited in Russia for the first time.
“The open creative space in Georgia creates favorable conditions for the merger of eastern and western cultural flows. The creativity of Georgian artists to a certain extent reflects those processes and trends that are currently observed in pan-European art spaces, ”said Guram Tsertsvadze, Chairman of the Union of Artists of Georgia.
This project is designed to emphasize the importance of dialogue between two countries whose history and culture have been inextricably linked for centuries through reliable ties. Georgia and Tiflis, in particular, were a meeting place for different civilizations, languages and traditions.
The main idea of the exhibition is to show the rich artistic heritage of Georgian art, which is characterized by great receptivity and a very subtle adaptation to national characteristics.
The exposition will run from May 27 to June 10 and will occupy the entire second floor of the gallery. Exhibition curator Timur Ivaneyshvili.
