On March 18, in the Manor of V.P. Sukachev (December Events St., 112), an exhibition of insects and other invertebrates “Land of Insectopia” opens. The exposition features 36 species of live exotic invertebrates: cockroaches, stick insects, wood lice, tarantulas, scorpions from the private collection of Alexander Suslov, an entomologist from Irkutsk.
The guests of the exhibition will especially remember the most interesting exhibits: the Madagascar hissing cockroach, the archimandrite cockroach, the giant blaberus, the tarantula spider Pterinochilus, nicknamed the “Mad Orange” because of its aggressive disposition and bright red color; the stone scorpion Hadogenes, which may not eat until the age of 5. Also on display is a rich entomological collection - exotic and domestic species of butterflies, beetles, dragonflies and other insects: about 50 entomological boxes.
The most striking exhibits are birdwing butterflies, huge as birds, including the largest diurnal butterfly, the Goliath birdwing, as well as the largest night butterfly in the world, Attacus Atlas. Particular attention at the exhibition will be paid to the species of butterflies and beetles found in the Cis-Baikal region.
The exposition is complemented by real entomological equipment, including a device for "night hunting". At the exhibition, you can take a picture with a net for catching insects and feel like a real entomologist.
The exhibition "Land of Insectopia" will run at the Estate of V.P. Sukachev (December Events St., 112) until May 29. Phone for inquiries and appointments for excursions: 53-12-24. Ticket price: 200–250 rubles (depending on the category of visitors).
