Exhibition "Sculpture Theater. Alexander Burganov"

April 28 in the courtyard of the Theater Museum. A.A. Bakhrushin will open an exhibition of plastic sculptures by Alexander Burganov. The exhibition will be held throughout the warm season. The space for the exhibition was not chosen by chance: the museum’s courtyard is a unique chamber garden filled with greenery, flowers and soft sunlight.

Alexander Burganov (born in 1935) - People’s Artist of Russia, Full Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction, USSR State Prize Laureate, Doctor of Art Criticism, Professor. Alexander Burganov works in monumental and easel sculpture, graphics, is one of the founders of the Russian school of architectural and decorative plastic. The sculptural works of Alexander Burganov are kept at the Moscow State Museum “The House of Burganov”, the State Tretyakov Gallery, and the State Museum of Fine Arts named after A.S. Pushkin, State Russian Museum, Museum of Modern Art “Ludwig Forum” (Aachen, Germany) and other collections in Russia, France, USA, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and Bulgaria.

Cooperation of the Theater Museum. A. A. Bakhrushin and Alexander Burganov is an organic continuation of the sculptor’s creative biography, in the 90s. carried away by the art of theater. In the courtyard of the museum "House of Burganov" theatrical studies were actively staged, the role of scenery for which was performed by sculptural figures. The interaction of sculpture and plasticity of the human body was enhanced due to musical accompaniment and sent the viewer to the avant-garde theater of the early XX century.

The exhibition "Sculpture Theater" offers us to plunge into the space of the chamber immersive theater, combining the art of sculpture, the landscape of the Bakhrushinsky garden and the architecture of the museum. Spectators, in turn, become participants in a new space - its actors.

In total, the upcoming exhibition will present 20 compositions by Alexander Burganov. The bust of Rudolf Nureyev, the plastic portrait of Mikhail Bulgakov, the sculptural image of the founder of the Theater Museum Alexei Bakhrushin, people without whom it is impossible to imagine a modern theater and its heritage, deserve special attention within the exhibition. In addition, at the exhibition you can see the compositions “The ABC of the Deaf”, “Love Runs Away”, “Sphinx”, “Wheel of Fortune” and other sculptures. The exhibition runs until September 30th.
