Exhibition Timofey Smirnov "Sweet and Sour Life"

The exhibition features 14 graphic works, performed mainly on canvas using both a pencil - the artist’s favorite tool, and acrylic paints. Unlike previous, purely pencil, non-color drawings, these works are brightly colored. But how else, when the central objects of the image - fruits and berries, for every taste - are sour and sweet, bright, festive. This exhibition is a gift from the artist and the Gallery to all art lovers for the New Year.

Do you like holidays? They do not happen every day, but they are always accompanied by an abundance of fruits and berries. Therefore, the artist chose fruits as the central object of his work as an image of beauty, a healthy lifestyle, strength, energy of procreation, they cause a special, ecstatic state of the human soul that distinguishes holidays from everyday life. However, the work of Timofei Smirnov is not at all still lifes in the style of the Small Dutch. These are full of irony works, in which either the person himself or his image is present, with each fruit symbolizing a side of a person’s life. Eroticism, beckoning sweetness is personified by strawberries (“Strawberry Swing”), love smells like ripe grapes (“Love loop”), sweet fruity taste (“Milo jam”) is peculiar to beauty, temptation, passion, lust caused by a woman merge with the aroma of ripe melon ("The Melon"). It is better to see with your own eyes these pictures full of brightness and beauty than to read about them. Better yet, take away any of the artist’s works, and a holiday will forever reign in your house - “a holiday that is always with you.”
