Exhibition "In the beginning was the sky"

In the Perm Art Gallery, the exhibition "At the Beginning of the Sky" was opened. It is dedicated to the general designer of aircraft engines Pavel Aleksandrovich Solovyov, whose 100th birthday is celebrated this year.

The initiator of the exhibition was JSC "UEC-Aviadvigatel" - the legendary design bureau, at the origins of the creation and development of which stood Pavel Soloviev. It was here that he developed and put into practice the unique principle of operation of turbojet dual-circuit engines, lifting hundreds of planes into the sky today.

The main theme of the exhibition was the dream of flight, freedom of thought, the work of the designer, high intelligence, and in modern times - and high technology.

The exhibition is based on the principle of conditional dichotomy, the contradiction that the designer always encounters. Duality is symbolically connected with the theme of the dual-circuit engine - the main work of Soloviev’s life. In the artistic embodiment, these are color contradictions, blue and orange colors. Blue is the sky, the Volga, where Solovyov was born and raised, river open spaces, a blueprint, which also had rivers in his life, dark blue slate boards on which engineers calculated.

Orange is a color that is used in aviation to attract attention, symbolizing the requirement of increased attention, a warning about danger. In the concept of the exhibition, this is the field of that increased voltage, energy in which the designer works.

Pavel Solovyov is the main hero of the exhibition, but the expositionists are moving away from his “direct presence” in photographs, documents and objects of the material series, leaving quotes from his statements sounding.

The exhibition will feature paintings and graphics from the gallery funds. These are the works of the leading avant-garde masters (V. Stepanova, A. Rodchenko), paintings of the era of socialist realism (A. Deineka, S. Gerasimov), paintings and graphics of the 1960-70s (A. Tumbasov, A. Kolchanov, S Bely), post-avant-garde works (A. Repin, K. Sokolov, K. Batynkov), a poster, engraving and modern graphic installations (A. Schigalev).

Drawings of A. Yar-Kravchenko from the Great Patriotic War (from the collection of E. Talavir and N. Talavir), as well as documents and photographs from the funds of corporate museums of enterprises of the aircraft building complex (JSC UEC-Star, JSC UEC-Perm Motors "). The final section of the exhibition will be the installation, which on-line will allow you to show how the development of designers “filled” the sky in the 21st century.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a special educational program for both adults and young visitors to the gallery.

The curators of the exhibition are Olga Safroshenko and Vladimir Beresnev (PHHG), consultant Alexander Artamonov (the Museum Solutions group).
