Exhibition "The Return of the Wooden Truck:
Toys of Maxim Varlamov"

Petersburger Maxim Varlamov made his first wood car for his own son. The following are for his friends in kindergarten. Now the master’s portfolio contains many samples of toys for children over two years of age: a variety of vehicles, doll houses, mills, piggy banks, furniture, blanks for creativity and even light tables for painting with sand. All this can not only be seen at the exhibition, but also touched. Indeed, in tactile qualities, the tree has no rivals among artificial materials.

Making a wooden toy, including in a family, is an ancient Russian tradition. From the northern horse-cones chopped with an ax to the fly-carving of Bogorodsky and Sergiev Posad, from Bartram and Gorlov’s inventions to pistols and machine guns, planed by caring fathers in Soviet times, she changed her appearance, but she never interrupted. The work of Maxim Varlamov marks the possibility of a new round of its development in Russia in accordance with the global trend of the transition to an environmentally friendly toy. Acquaintance of the master with the experience of leading German, Italian, Scandinavian companies is not an obstacle to the manifestation of creative individuality, but a working condition at the level of modern requirements for design and safety. At the exhibition, visitors will also see wooden toys of the USSR and foreign countries of the 20th century, learn how to choose a wooden toy and take care of it.
