Exhibition "The Universe of Leo Serikov"

The exhibition "The Universe of Leo Serikov" will open on September 29 in the department of Siberian art of the Irkutsk Art Museum. The exposition combines over 60 wooden sculptures and covers the artist’s work from the late 1990s to 2015. Lev Serikov - Honored Artist of Russia, a talented sculptor, known not only in our country, but also abroad.

The first solo exhibition of Leo Serikov was held in the Irkutsk Art Museum in 1997. Then there were Moscow, and Paris, and many other prestigious exhibition venues. In 2005, there was a second personal exhibition of this author in the walls of the Irkutsk Art Museum, and now, ten years later, a new landmark meeting.

According to the author himself, during the preparation of this exhibition, the selection of works was tough so that the viewer was not tired, but could carefully examine each work. Unlike cold materials - bronze and marble, the wood Lev Serikov works with is warm and ductile. And unique is the Siberian cedar. Moreover, as the master says, he allows children to iron sculptures at the exhibition - the tree has this for it.

A visitor to the exhibition will be able to plunge into the artist’s universe, which is inhabited by a variety of heroes: ancient and biblical characters, the harsh elders of Russian history, famous writers and artists, allegorical and fantasy images, many ironic, imbued with good humor and smile.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on September 29 at 16.00 at the address: Irkutsk, Karl Marx, 23, Department of Siberian Art of the Irkutsk Art Museum. For visitors, the "Leo Serikov Universe" will be open until October 25.

Lev Ivanovich Serikov was born in 1945 in the city of Cheremkhovo, Irkutsk Region. In 1969 he graduated from the decorative department of the Irkutsk College of Arts (teacher - G.G. Levy). In the 1970s and 80s Engaged in artistic design, design of the urban environment. From 1981 to 1988 was the main artist of the city of Irkutsk.
