The underwater world is still not fully understood by man and is fraught with thousands of secrets and mysteries. And, as we look at the amazing inhabitants of the underwater world, so they study us from the depths of the water. What can be read in their attentive eyes? The exhibition "Living Ocean", which opens November 24 at the sports art club "Gallery", presents the exposition of the famous underwater photographer Andrei Narchuk, collected from his works of different years, which he did in different parts of the globe. All of them are united in one beautiful short story about the life of the Ocean, seen by the author in the views of its inhabitants - fish, amphibians, mammals, mollusks.
As everyone knows, the ocean is a great mute. And underwater shooting, whether it be photography or shots from documentaries or feature films, is always devoid of rich soundtrack. Only the sound of water can complement the video. But, speechless, the underwater world received truly fabulous means of communication in its colorfulness and plasticity. No bird or animal can boast of such a variety in colors and shapes. The inhabitants of the tropical seas have charmed with their colors for many years diving enthusiasts, and the amazing microcosm of invisible animals has just begun to be mastered by underwater photographers. The ocean is the Earth’s largest ecosystem, the most mysterious, but also one of the most vulnerable.
The author himself, Andrei Narchuk, says that: “Plunging into the ocean, you discover a different world that is completely different from what we are used to seeing in everyday life. It combines a huge variety of different organisms. At the same time, it seems that he himself is a single living being. Large, but as it turned out to be very vulnerable. In my photographs, I try to show the diversity of underwater inhabitants from the smallest to the largest. The phlegmatic nudibranchs and predatory sharks, tiny coral polyps and sea lions are equally amazing and interesting. And, a separate place is occupied by the topic of human interaction with the underwater world. This is a simple acquaintance, and study and protection. Photography gives us the opportunity not only to admire the beauty, but it is also an occasion to think. This is a chance to keep the ocean alive. ”
Andrey Narchuk is an underwater and natural photographer. Multiple winner and laureate of the competitions “Golden Dolphin”, “Golden Turtle”, “Wildlife of Russia”, winner of the prestigious world competitions “Underwater Photographer of the Year”, “WildLife Photographer of the Year”, “GDT European Photographer of the Year”, winner of the first national award from the World Photo Organization. Creator and ideological inspirer of such projects on photography and wildlife as the “Wild Magazine” and “The Underwater World of the Far East”.
