Exhibition of the photo club "Innovator". 55 years

On September 23, an exhibition dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the legendary Moscow club of photographers Novator will open in the Gallery of Classical Photography.

Founded in 1961 by applied photographers of the still “pre-revolutionary baking” Alexander Khlebnikov and Georgy Soshalsky - in fact, the first advertising photographers - the club attracted already established masters to work, but was actually created for “advanced training”, organization of leisure and communication among amateur photographers, many of whom later became professional reporters and photo artists.

Already in the mid-1960s, the photo club at the district House of Culture of the same name became the center of the amateur amateur movement in Moscow: it included more than 300 people. The social composition - from professor to locksmith, and many pensioners. Three to four meetings a week. The still life section was led by Khlebnikov, the general photographic workshop - Soshalsky, the report section - Boris Ignatovich, the landscape section - S.K. Ivanov-Alliluyev. Drop in V.I. Ulitin and A.P. Shterenberg. All are very different, all are the color of Soviet fine art photography.

Photographers who were not used to working on assignments, photographers with their outlook on life, their style, their favorite subject, grew up in the club. It is no accident that the main ridge of its participants is an uninvented incident - an “incident from everyday life”, although there remains a place for pictorial landscape scenery, dynamic sports shots, “designer” still lifes, allegorical compositions, and celebrity portraits (Edita Pieha, Rolan Bykov, Andrey Voznesensky, Ilya Erenburg, Anatoly Karpov, Garry Kasparov).

The exhibitions of Novator held in Novosibirsk, Ulan-Ude, Krasnoyarsk, Cheboksary, Gorky, Vilnius, Lviv and many other cities of the USSR aroused constant interest among the audience, and the pictures were published in the magazine Soviet Photo and all-Union newspapers: Komsomolskaya Pravda "," Izvestia "," Moscow Komsomolets ". Photographs from the club’s collection were included in the landmark anniversary exhibition “150 Years of Photography”, held in the Moscow Manege in 1989.

At the exhibition in the Gallery of Classical Photographs dedicated to the 55th anniversary of Novator, more than 60 photographs created by its participants in different years will be presented. The exposition is conditionally divided into four parts: still life, portrait, reportage and genre pictures. Here you can see color and black-and-white photographs of contemporary authors and the “old guard” of the club. The names of the participants speak for themselves: Anatoly Boldin, Alexey Vasilyev, Mikhail Dashevsky, Anatoly Erin, George Kolosov, Alexander Khlebnikov, George Soshalsky and many others.

Most of the shots were made in the tradition of analog black-and-white photography, which has now turned into a very popular art product on the modern market. Estimates of the submitted works range from 70 thousand to one and a half million rubles and above. Last year, Khlebnikov’s famous “Glove” photo from the “Soviet Synthetics” series was exhibited in Paris at the Paris Photo international art fair for £ 18,000.

The organizers of the exhibition prepared a large-scale cultural and educational program for the guests. During the exhibition, a series of master classes and creative meetings with the participants of the exposition are planned. In addition, within the framework of the exhibition, the issues of the Novator Photo Club Library will be presented, which are dedicated to the founders of the club G. Soshalsky and A. Khlebnikov, as well as telling about the best works of the “innovators” of the 1960s and 1970s.

The gala evening dedicated to the opening of the exhibition will take place on Friday, September 23, at 19. 00. Members of the legendary club: Anatoly Boldin, Alexey Vasiliev, Mikhail Dashevsky, Alexander Fursov, George Kolosov, as well as other distinguished guests, representatives of the media will take part in it. - and the art community. Participants of the holiday will enjoy lively communication with the masters of photography, an autograph and a photo shoot. By tradition, the entrance to the opening of the exhibition will be free for everyone.
