The collective exhibition of graduates of the Academy of Arts interprets the events of the 20th century, the dividing axis of which was the Second World War.
Each painter has his own unique styles and views, but all of them, united by hope and the ability to especially feel, become not only the “voice”, but also the conscience of the nation - like artists. The curator of the exhibition, Alexandra Shchegoleva, writes: “The modern world certainly emerged from the ashes of what was destroyed in the middle of the last century. Therefore, the authors of the presented works, young artists - Milada Kopeliovich, Daniil Obmanets, Alexandra Shchegoleva, Dmitry Myasnikov, Mikhail Tishakov and Prokhor Vechkanov - in their works not only illustrate the facts of history, but try to understand the causes and consequences of the events that divided the life of all the inhabitants of the Earth into "before and after"".
The tandem of authors is already familiar to residents and guests of St. Petersburg on the project "Portrait 21/XXI", which was presented at Artmuse in November. As part of the new exhibition, viewers will be able to see the “torn”, iconographic space in the paintings of M. Kopeliovich, the “ironic surrealism” of P. Vechkanov, the “historical symbolism” of M. Tishakov. All this resembles a harmonious chorus of deep and clear voices, merging into a single song. It shows that no matter how many wars there are, they always end in peace; the most vivid chapters are given to tragedies in the book of life, but it is the ability of a Man to rise above the horror of his circumstances, to tell his descendants about them, to express his thoughts through art, which is the guarantor of the future for the next generations, who, perhaps, will be able to become better than us.
