Fyodor Petrovich Tolstoy (1783 – 1873) was a Russian artist. His creative legacy is multifaceted: painting, graphics, sculpture, medals. He is widely known for his still lifes Red Currant Berries and Bouquet of Flowers, Butterfly and Bird. Before us is the painting by F. P. Tolstoy Bouquet of Flowers, Butterfly and Bird. It depicts summer garden flowers. The variety of colors reflects the brightness of natures hues. Summer, sun, lots of greenery – bees and butterflies flit from flower to flower. Looking at the picture, one hears birds singing, and you want to feel the scent of greenery and flowers. It seems as if the flowers have just been picked and placed in a vase. Although we see that some petals are already beginning to fall off. One wants to water these fragile and defenseless little flowers so that they can delight the eye and create the feeling that we are in a garden where the wind makes all the flowers and plants move, spreading a wonderful scent. If you look closely, the fallen flower petals resemble a butterfly trying to fly onto a flower or sitting down to rest. A simple glass vase with drinking water sits next to it, and a young butterfly has just landed on it after flying free. Next to the vase is a little bird that looks around as if listening for any unfamiliar sounds, as if preparing to take flight. Having considered the painting, we see the extraordinary beauty of various flowers against a dark background, the diversity of colors of the flowers growing in gardens. I really liked this painting. It describes the interconnectedness of nature, plants, birds and insects. Their common interests. About desires. It reflects the real picture of a living garden in a small bouquet of flowers standing on a table in a house.

Still Life by F. P. Tolstoy Flowers, Fruit, Bird

Summer, sunshine, abundant greenery – bees and butterflies flit from flower to flower. If you look closely, the fallen flower petals resemble a butterfly trying to fly onto a flower or resting there. A simple glass vase filled with fresh water has a young butterfly perched on its rim, as if it has just been flying in the open air. Next to the vase sits a small bird that is looking around as if listening for any sounds, perhaps preparing for take-off. Examining the painting, we see the extraordinary beauty of various flowers against a dark background, and the diversity of colors of the flowers growing in gardens. I really liked this painting. It describes the interconnectedness of nature, plants, birds, and insects with each other. Their shared interests. Desires. Im in the 2nd grade, and my teacher asked us to write an essay about this picture. We looked for a long time, but we finally found it. Thank you, I hope I get a good grade (a 5 is the highest)!
This is a great essay!
A decent essay.
What adjectives can be used? For example, dark blue flower.
Can you tell me what adjectives can be used to describe this picture?
Its absolutely awesome, thank you very much!
A great and interesting work.
Thanks, its a great essay! Thank you so much. By the way, I can actually tell the difference between those birds, but thanks anyway.
As a Russian language teacher, I can say that the essay is not perfect and contains speech errors, grammatical mistakes, and logical flaws.
And to the students, I want to say: write your essays yourselves! It doesnt have to be perfect, but it should be your own work! For example, I give failing grades for copied essays. Its not that difficult to copy one sentence from an essay into a search engine and determine whether the student wrote it themselves.

As a teacher, an essay that deserves a grade of 4+ or 5 (on a 5-point scale) – in general, its an essay worthy of a grade of 5.
I think the whole essay is just not something you can copy directly. You could maybe use some sentences here and there, but not everything. Otherwise, its a pretty good essay.
:) Great :) Superb :) essay :) Thank you very much :)

Its okay, but you dont have to rewrite everything.
a good essay
I hope to get a grade of 5.
[Its a disaster, its terrible.]
A good essay
The best essay ever.
Its necessary to eliminate such pedants like the author of this text. Read Chekhovs immortal phrases: As I passed by the station, my hat fell off. A similar gem is found in this text: Looking at the painting, you can hear birds singing. This is a very rude linguistic error. A participle denotes an additional action performed by the same subject. In this example, the viewer looks, and the birds sing. Therefore, only a subordinate clause should be used: When you look at the painting, it seems as if the birds are singing. The flowers are about to be picked is another gem. It seems that the flowers were just picked. – It seems that the flowers are about to be picked. Only this option is possible when writing in Russian.
Another masterpiece. She describes the interconnectedness of nature, plants, birds, and insects. I wont even comment on it. I will simply advise you to read Viktor Dragunskys story A Quiet Ukrainian Night. The intelligent ones will understand. I dont even want to write about punctuation. In conclusion: thats why we get such low scores on the ЕГЭ exam, because something like this is presented as an example.
A very good essay.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! IT WILL DEFINITELY BE A 5+!!! YAYYY!!!
Before us is a still life. A still life is a painting that most often depicts a table and what is on it – flowers, fruits, vases, cutlery, dishes, food (fish, game, etc.). The word still life comes from the French language and literally means dead nature. This is indeed the case. Artists try very hard to make the objects look natural, indistinguishable from real ones, but nevertheless the image will still be lifeless.
The artist F. Tolstoy wanted to bring a still life to life. But how? Very simple: he included living creatures in it – birds, insects. And the still life Bouquet of flowers, butterfly and bird seems to come alive with new colors, filled with vital energy, as if life has been breathed into an inanimate object. If you imagine that there are no birds and insects in the painting, it becomes dull, simple, like hundreds of other still lifes.
In the painting, we see a glass vase filled with water, and inside it are several garden flowers. Around the vase are fruits – apples and grapes. The bunch of grapes has apparently just been picked, along with leaves, and the tendrils of the grapes intertwine with the leaves of the flowers in the vase.
In the foreground are two sprigs of red and white currants. They are so lit by the light that they seem transparent. On a grape vine sits some unusual bird with a blue cap and a blue spot on its back. It is looking at something on an apple. Perhaps it saw a worm or simply mistook a spot on the apples skin for an insect?
On one of the apples, we can indeed see an insect – a fly. And above it flies a moth, which is also about to land on the apple or a flower. To the right of the bouquet is a butterfly that has just flown off a grape leaf.
The painting looks very colorful and peaceful. It evokes a feeling of comfort and balance in the soul.
I really liked this painting. By the way, its this painting, not that one.
I have corrected some errors. I may have missed something.

April 23, 2017. Well, what can I say, I hope to get a grade of 5+.
Hmm... I see a smiling face and hear the purring of a cat near Johns house.
Thank you very much.
You cannot comment Why?
The artist’s meticulous rendering emphasizes texture and detail; one can discern the individual petals of the flowers, the translucence of the glass, and the fine feathers of the bird. The lighting is soft and diffused, contributing to an overall sense of tranquility and stillness. The arrangement appears carefully considered, with each element placed to create a balanced and harmonious visual experience.
Beyond the straightforward depiction of natural objects, the painting suggests several layers of meaning. The flowers themselves often symbolize beauty, fragility, and the fleeting nature of life. Their variety might represent diversity or abundance. The butterfly, frequently associated with transformation and the soul, introduces an element of spiritual significance. Its presence within the water could allude to a transition between states – from earthly existence to something beyond.
The finch, typically representing joy and domesticity, adds another dimension to the narrative. It’s placement at the base of the composition suggests a grounded perspective, perhaps hinting at an appreciation for simple pleasures or a connection to the natural world. The inclusion of these elements elevates the work beyond a mere botanical study; it becomes a meditation on life, beauty, and the passage of time.
The monochromatic background serves to isolate the arrangement, focusing attention entirely on its details and symbolic weight. It also creates a sense of depth, allowing the objects in the foreground to appear more prominent. The overall effect is one of quiet contemplation and understated elegance.
