LIKE AN EAGLE
The air beneath the birds wings is resilient,
The distance to the abyss is always great.
Birds dont need bread or a life preserver,
Nor do they need clothes or milk.
Sparrows – thats the low stratum of existence,
But their games are interesting to watch.
But when I am just an observer,
Then heavenly mysteries captivate me.
But I see no paths – just vastness and more vastness,
Golden, sculpted, high blue –
It is unlikely that a gaze could get lost in it.
The sky is better than mountains or distant deserts.
Well, pigeons or, lets say, swallows,
Are still higher than the sparrows I mentioned.
And the bushes below look like large hedgehogs,
And hedgehogs dont need our words.
Well, and an eagle? An eagle over the city? Where?
Here is a patch of fantasy – an eagle! The heights!
He strives, surely, for a distant star,
Where the souls of many of the departed have gathered.
He soars higher, and the air is resilient.
What does that cunningly structured eye see?
He sees a village, a green meadow,
He sees the sum of tiny houses now.
Maybe he sees a squirrel, or maybe a fox –
At the edge, a dark blue forest shimmers.
What will reflect in an eagles eyes?
A fragmented world, unlikely to be a miracle.
Falling on its wing, it continues its journey,
But the air current knocks it off course.
The heart is pressed very tightly against the chest.
At heights, the eagle, like me, is alone.
Listen, eagle, I am just like you!
Although not a predator, the heights are close to me too.
An eagles point in the sky, a flame of dreams,
Is more interesting than the lines on your hand.
Or is there no return now?
Or will the air pull it in like a wave?
But he would gladly perish in the air,
A strong eagle, because life is only one!
It must be finished with brilliance! The strands gleam,
The sun is close already.
Beyond three dimensions – hell,
But also paradise, thats clear to the soul.
High up. And now he will cross
The boundary of our familiar reality.
And he will find a different life in the blue,
In the noisy splash of barely imaginable waves.
Will the flight end? Never, never.
Just summer is leaving, and the world is fading away.
For a glimpse of flight, I sometimes offer –
I believe that even earthly life – for a moment.
You cannot comment Why?
Below it, another bird is depicted in a more subdued pose, seemingly caught off guard by the movement above. Its plumage exhibits a muted palette of grey and white, contrasting sharply with the vibrant coloration of its counterpart. The lower bird’s head is tilted slightly upward, suggesting surprise or perhaps apprehension.
The artist has employed a technique that emphasizes realism; each feather appears individually defined, contributing to an overall sense of naturalism. Light falls across the birds bodies in a way that highlights their three-dimensionality and textural qualities. The background is a simple green border, which serves to isolate the subjects and direct attention solely towards the avian interaction.
Beyond the straightforward depiction of these creatures, the drawing hints at themes of predator and prey, dominance and vulnerability. The positioning of the birds suggests an ongoing narrative – a moment frozen in time that implies both pursuit and potential escape. The contrast in coloration further reinforces this dynamic, with the brighter bird embodying energy and control while the paler one represents a state of defensiveness or submission.
The inclusion of text at the bottom, identifying the subjects by scientific nomenclature, suggests an intention to present these birds not merely as aesthetic objects but also as specimens worthy of study and classification – a blend of artistic representation and scientific documentation.
