CRUCIFIXION
The crucified body, a clot
Of pain and light, is given.
Life should not be a descent -
But a radiant ascent!
But
Ascent comes through suffering.
Rather, forget death!
Christ is pleasing to the heavens.
Look: the firmament will answer.
Christ is like a flower in Jesus,
He blossomed when Jesus
Rejected darkness – and let it be so that
Everyone can do it.
I fear
I wont be able to...
I wont! – I understand.
Understanding is the first step.
Through the light of crucifixion, I will learn,
When the soul grows.
Everything has been: Pilates judgment,
And the Sanhedrins nonsense.
The path to suffering is rich.
Resurrection brings light.
Let my lower feelings die on the cross,
My lower thoughts – their brothers –
I will bury them in silent depths.
May Christs radiance fill
The soul,
To feel it through heavenly strings,
Hurry.

Below this harrowing spectacle, two mourners are depicted. A woman, draped in dark robes and with her face partially obscured by shadow, stands in a posture of lamentation, her hands clasped together as if in prayer or despair. To her right, another figure, clad in reddish-orange garments, appears to be observing the scene with an expression that blends grief and contemplation. The positioning of this individual suggests a role beyond mere witness; he seems to embody a deeper understanding of the tragedy unfolding before him.
The background is rendered with a muted palette of browns and grays, punctuated by patches of pale sky suggesting twilight or dawn. A distant cityscape, barely discernible through atmospheric haze, provides a sense of scale and context, grounding the scene in a recognizable world despite its extraordinary nature. The landscape’s subdued tones contribute to the overall somber mood.
The artists use of perspective is notable. While there is an attempt at creating depth, the figures are presented with a certain flatness, which emphasizes their symbolic rather than purely realistic representation. This stylistic choice directs attention towards the emotional weight of the event and minimizes any distraction from the central theme of suffering and loss.
Subtly embedded within this depiction are layers of meaning beyond the immediate narrative. The deliberate arrangement of figures – the central figure’s vulnerability, the mourners grief, the distant city – suggests a commentary on human frailty, faith, and the enduring power of compassion in the face of adversity. The muted color scheme reinforces the solemnity of the occasion, while the composition itself evokes feelings of empathy and introspection within the viewer.
