This is a very beautiful painting! I have one similar to this, possibly an original. How much does such a masterpiece cost?
The original version could be worth over a hundred thousand euros, plus or minus.
I have a painting hanging on the wall in my country house; its been there for a long time and is located near the stove, painted with oil paints.
I also have a painting with a Shishkin signature and the year 1886. How can I tell if its an original or not?
The original is probably in the Tretyakov Gallery; I dont think it could be in the possession of ordinary people like us.
Theres a similar original piece, approximately 1000x500 in size. Its quite old and has the signature I. Shishkin 86. It probably dates back about 40 years.
I also have a painting with an autograph, the year it was created, and its dimensions. My grandfather bought it at a flea market.
The original is in Kyiv, at the Russian Museum.
You cannot comment Why?
In the foreground, a man on horseback is crossing a shallow stream, his figure small against the grandeur of nature. The stream meanders through the terrain, with rocky banks and fallen logs. A well-trodden path winds through the woods, leading towards a distant view.
In the mid-ground and background, there are subtle signs of human presence. A few small figures can be seen walking on the path, and in the far distance, nestled amongst the trees, appears to be a small church or chapel with a white facade. There are also what appear to be gravestones or markers along the path, suggesting a historical or sacred site within the landscape.
The subtext of the painting likely revolves around the relationship between humanity and nature, and perhaps, life and spirituality. The immense scale of the pine trees evokes a sense of timelessness and the power of the natural world. The presence of the lone rider, the distant figures, and the religious architecture hint at human life, journeys, and spiritual contemplation within this majestic setting. The title St. Key near Yelabuga suggests a specific location and possibly a connection to local folklore or history, adding another layer of meaning to the tranquil yet profound scene. The painting could be interpreted as a meditation on the beauty of the Russian landscape, the quietude of rural life, and the spiritual solace found in nature.
