THE WORLD OF ANIMALS
In the ravine, a badgers labyrinth lies,
The entrance hidden by fallen leaves.
In spring, the forest trembles with sounds,
That need no words to convey.
The animal kingdom is diverse,
A reindeer impaled by the bear,
Crushed by a powerful paw – that’s how
He tore its spine apart.
Is cruelty a sin for a predator?
Deep in the wilderness, a leopard
Waits for its prey – as his ancestors
Have waited for centuries – with barely
Any excitement. Somewhere,
Great elephants roam the mountains.
Theres no common plot in their lives,
Only complex layers of existence,
A swarm of vague signs in the mind.
The lynx will not read the poem
That the leaves write on the grass.

The artist has rendered the animals with considerable detail, particularly in their fur markings. The characteristic black mask around the eyes is clearly delineated, contributing to their distinctive appearance. Coloration is realistic, employing shades of brown, grey, and tan to depict the texture and depth of their coats. The branch itself is meticulously drawn, showcasing its rough bark and the way it supports the animals weight. A few leaves are scattered around the base of the branch, adding a touch of naturalism to the scene.
The subdued color palette – primarily earth tones against a pale blue sky – creates a sense of quiet observation. The lighting appears soft and diffused, minimizing harsh shadows and contributing to an overall feeling of tranquility.
Subtly, the arrangement of the two raccoons suggests a dynamic relationship. Their differing postures and gazes imply a silent communication or shared awareness of their surroundings. One might interpret this as a depiction of familial bonds or simply the natural interaction between creatures in their habitat. The artist’s choice to portray them within a tree – a symbol often associated with resilience, growth, and connection to nature – could be seen as an implicit commentary on the animals adaptability and place within the ecosystem. The work evokes a sense of scientific documentation while simultaneously capturing a moment of quiet intimacy between these creatures.
