The painting Oarsmen depicts two individuals rowing a wooden boat. The foreground figure is closer to the viewer, with their back partially turned, hunched over as they grip an oar. They wear a straw hat, a white t-shirt, and blue trousers. The second figure is positioned behind the first, also rowing and similarly dressed. Both figures appear focused on their task. The boat itself is a warm, golden-brown wood, and it cuts through dark, rippling water. The lighting suggests it is daytime, possibly a slightly overcast day given the diffused light.
