JAPANESE MOTIFS

To gaze into the rock garden – a model
Of existence, or perhaps the universe.
Nearby stands a quiet, paper-thin house,
Where contemplation is its own reward.
The fruits of the tea ceremony –
A quiet look inward, a poem.
You will hear a haiku about water –
As if time were to stop.

The samurais backplate,
Patterned with spikes and intricate designs,
And two swords, and such a life,
Where there is no pain, no groan imaginable.
Having treated everyone, having prepared everything,
He will open his own belly.
There are now stains of blood on the floor,
And the samurai will die in silence.

The cherry blossoms bloom in poems.
Yellow wine slumbers in a glass.

A Tokyo avalanche will crash down on you
With all its colorful advertising.
You are stifled in the traffic jams,
Yet you move forward directly.
A whistling, noisy movement.
Hectares rise upwards, made of glass.
The past versus change –
How attractive are these changes to us?
There is something – there is charm
In this bustling, colorful metropolis.
Suddenly – a separation from yourself,
Lost... but the mobile phone hums on your belt.

Sake, heated as it should be,
Fried eel lies next to rice.
Will you hold the chopsticks in your hand,
Understanding the all-Japanese flavor?
Oh, there is another harmony of food here,
Strange rows of flavors.
But dont try fugu fish, my friend,
You took a bite – and death suddenly came to the table.

The branches are bent, they resemble
Hieroglyphs.
Past and present days
Combine into something
Unified by the memory of text. Hieroglyphs
Are wonderfully curved with ink.
And here is a little man with a forked gesture.

A pond with golden fish,
With snails on the banks,
And the snails seem to be smiling,
Dissolved later in poems.
