At the core lies a shield divided into two distinct fields. The upper field displays a white background with three golden lions passant (walking) arranged horizontally. The lower field presents a silver surface with a single lion rampant (standing on hind legs) facing left, also rendered in gold. This bipartite division suggests a combination of lineages or territories associated with the individual or family represented.
Above the shield rises a crest depicting a crowned lion sejant (sitting upright), holding a scepter in its right paw. The crown signifies authority and nobility, while the scepter is an emblem of governance and power. This figure reinforces the themes of dominion and leadership inherent within the heraldic design.
Flanking the central shield are two supporters: elaborate figures resembling winged creatures or stylized foliage, intricately rendered with swirling patterns and detailed textures. These supports visually anchor the shield and contribute to the overall sense of stability and importance. They also serve as decorative elements, adding complexity and visual interest to the composition.
Above the crest, a complex arrangement of banners unfurls, further emphasizing the elevated status of the individual or family depicted. The banners are adorned with intricate patterns and folds, suggesting movement and dynamism within the static image.
Beneath the shield, two inscriptions appear in Latin and German respectively: Omnia ex Deo venivnt (All things come from God) and “Alle ding kommen auß Gott.” These phrases underscore a religious dimension to the representation, implying that authority and lineage are divinely ordained. The inclusion of both languages suggests an audience spanning different cultural or linguistic groups.
The engraving’s monochrome palette and precise linework contribute to its formal and dignified character. The use of chiaroscuro (contrast between light and dark) enhances the three-dimensionality of the figures and elements, creating a sense of depth and visual richness. The meticulous attention to detail in every aspect of the design – from the individual scales on the lion’s mane to the intricate folds of the banners – demonstrates a commitment to precision and artistry. The work functions not merely as an identifier but also as a statement of lineage, power, and divine sanction.
