The color palette is intensely saturated; pinks, blues, greens, yellows, and reds are layered to produce an effect that is both playful and unsettling. These hues do not adhere to conventional color theory, contributing to the overall feeling of distortion. The eyes, large and almond-shaped, possess a disconcerting quality due to their disproportionate size and placement within the fragmented facial structure. One eye appears almost circular, further emphasizing the departure from realism.
The mane is suggested by thick, parallel lines that curve upward, adding to the sense of movement. A prominent nose, delineated with sharp angles, dominates the central portion of the composition. The artist’s use of hatching and cross-hatching creates a palpable texture across the surface, enhancing the drawings tactile quality.
Subtextually, the work seems to explore themes of deconstruction and reconstruction. The animal form is not presented as whole or unified but rather as a collection of disparate elements brought together in an unconventional arrangement. This could be interpreted as a commentary on perception, identity, or the inherent instability of representation itself. The vibrant colors, while visually engaging, also contribute to a sense of unease, suggesting that beauty and disruption can coexist within the same visual field. The black background serves to isolate the subject, intensifying its fragmented nature and preventing any grounding in a recognizable environment.
