Im now carefully reviewing Pittonis paintings and Im convinced that he is a very interesting artist, an excellent draftsman, painter, and composer. I am certain that he is somewhat undervalued, at least it is known that his bright, vibrant, and expressive painting is unjustly considered simplistic. Comparing Pittonis painting with the work of his great contemporary, the Venetian Tiepolo, I confidently prefer the former because Pittonis paintings lack the repulsive, overly grand coldness characteristic of all of Giovanni Tiepolos works.
