Indeed, everything is alive, even the tired snow. Spring is knocking at the window. And one involuntarily wants to remain young. Life is the spring of our thoughts and reflections, – Ya. Oyun told me thirty-four years ago. Love painting, poets, for only it can convey the ever-changing signs of the soul onto canvas, – I. Brodsky said.
I remember this landscape from my childhood. My grandmother received it as a gift from the brewer Grube when he left for Czechoslovakia during the revolution. We used to think that the artist was a foreigner named Richter, judging by the signature. Before going to sleep, I would often admire the landscape and imagine who lived in the village and where the little river flowed. And about 8 years ago, I saw a painting with this same landscape in the hallway of the Central House of Artists (TsDKHA), and I was surprised. Later, I found out the artists name. I am proud that he is our compatriot, that his work is copied, and that he is known even abroad.
This painting is a pathetic copy of a real painting by Endogurov, a wonderful but little-known artist.

The subtext of the painting lies in its depiction of transition and hope. The title itself, Early Spring, is significant. While the landscape is still in the grip of winter, the presence of flowing water, however frozen, and the subtle warmth in the sky suggest the imminent arrival of spring. The scene evokes a sense of quiet anticipation and the enduring cycle of nature. The bare trees, stripped of their summer foliage, symbolize a period of rest and dormancy but, with their intricate branch structures, also promise new growth. The overall mood is one of gentle melancholy mingled with a quiet optimism, capturing that liminal moment when winters reign is about to end, and the promise of renewal is on the horizon.
