The palette is dominated by reds, blues, yellows, and greens, applied in flat planes rather than blended smoothly. This approach contributes to the sense of abstraction and emphasizes the forms through their chromatic boundaries. The horses themselves are not depicted realistically; instead, they appear as symbolic representations, their anatomy simplified and distorted. Lines, often gold or yellow, trace the contours of the animals and extend outwards, suggesting energy radiating from them or perhaps delineating a spiritual connection to the surrounding environment.
The background is equally significant. It’s not a conventional landscape but rather an assemblage of textures – rough patches of brown and grey are interspersed with areas of diffused light that evoke a sense of both depth and instability. The ground appears uneven, hinting at a challenging terrain over which these creatures traverse.
Subtly, the work seems to explore themes of power, freedom, and perhaps even transformation. The horses’ forward momentum implies an unstoppable force, while their fragmented forms might suggest vulnerability or a process of becoming. The use of gold lines could signify nobility, divinity, or a connection to ancestral heritage. The overall effect is one of controlled chaos – a visual representation of raw energy contained within a structured framework.
The border framing the scene adds another layer of complexity. Its geometric pattern, rendered in orange and brown, reinforces the sense of structure and containment while also echoing the linear elements found within the central composition. It acts as both a decorative element and a symbolic barrier, separating the depicted world from the viewer’s reality.
