The right panel features another figure seated, holding what appears to be a scroll or book. This individual is draped in blue robes, a color traditionally associated with the Virgin Mary, and wears a golden halo similar to that of the winged figure. The hands are raised in a gesture of surprise or acceptance, suggesting a moment of revelation. A serene expression graces the face, conveying humility and quiet contemplation.
The background of both panels is dominated by gold leaf, which serves not only as a decorative element but also as a symbolic representation of divine light and transcendence. This gilded backdrop creates an otherworldly atmosphere, separating the figures from earthly concerns. The triangular framing devices emphasize their individual importance while simultaneously hinting at their interconnectedness within a larger narrative.
Subtly, there’s a sense of spatial disconnect between the two panels; they dont appear to occupy the same physical space. This separation reinforces the idea that these are distinct moments in time, yet intrinsically linked through the unfolding event. The posture and gestures of each figure suggest an exchange – a message delivered and received – implying a pivotal moment of communication and divine intervention.
