… This is Gauguins work!
Actually, the painting is not by Vincent van Gogh, but by Paul Gauguin.
There is a clear mistake here.
In the Pushkin Museum in Moscow, works by Gauguin and Van Gogh are displayed next to each other. This painting is in the same room as Van Goghs. The first three letters of their last names are the same. So, whats the difference – Van Gogh or Gauguin?
You cannot comment Why?
The painting depicts a dimly lit interior of a cafe, likely at night, with a billiard table in the background. The dominant colors are warm reds and yellows for the walls, contrasting with the green of the billiard table cloth. In the foreground, a woman with dark hair and a pensive expression is seated at a table, resting her head on her hand. In front of her are a glass, a siphon bottle, and a small round object, possibly a fruit or a coaster.
Behind her, several other figures are visible, some gathered around the billiard table, while others appear to be seated further back. The atmosphere is subdued, with a sense of stillness and perhaps loneliness. The lighting is artificial and contributes to the enclosed feeling of the space.
Subtexts in this painting can be interpreted in several ways:
