Here we see a gentleman dressed in the fashion of the late sixteenth or early seventeenth century. His attire consists of a doublet and ruff, both rendered with meticulous detail. The doublet’s silvery-grey fabric appears to shimmer under the light, suggesting wealth and refinement. The elaborate ruff, a hallmark of the periods style, is particularly noteworthy for its size and intricate folds; it serves as a visual marker of status and sophistication.
