Numerous studies of Leonardo da Vinci’s paintings indicate that a separate theme in the artist’s work was that of the mother and her child. Often in his paintings there are images of a young woman expressing care and concern for her baby. currently kept in the Hermitage in St. Petersburg. Experts believe that this painting was painted during the Milanese period of Da Vinci’s work and it is in it that the very type of female beauty of the Renaissance is best emphasized.

currently kept in the Hermitage in St. Petersburg. Experts believe that this painting was painted during the Milanese period of Da Vinci’s work and it is in it that the very type of female beauty of the Renaissance is best emphasized. This can clearly be seen in the perfection of the lines and forms. One only has to pay attention to the way the image of a nursing woman and the clear lines of the window openings in the background are in harmony.
It is impossible not to notice the expression of Madonna’s face, which is overflowing with tenderness and care for her baby at the moment of breastfeeding. This is especially evident in her, slightly covered, eyes and barely noticeable smile. It seems that the woman is smiling at her dreams.
Particular attention should be paid to the lighting of the picture. One cannot help but notice that the figure of Madonna and her baby are lit up much more than the background, which gives the illusion that the light is coming from somewhere in front.
The baby is accurately portrayed, with expressive eyes, a plump body, and a play of light and shade which brings out the "silky" quality of his skin, all emphasizing the themes of motherhood and feminine beauty.
Madonna’s bright red dress contrasts harmoniously with the blue cape, which, in turn, blends with the delicate background of turquoise clouds.
It is also worth noting that Leonardo da Vinci did not paint this picture in oil, but in tempera, which gives a little more contrast and provides a better preservation of the painting.

MY PRAYER
I dont know your prayers,
Mother of God.
I choose the words myself.
The wilderness –
But of spiritual make –
I will overcome! –
Because you will help me – thank you! –
I will succeed!
You help me – and my heart
Beats lighter.
I dont know how to live carefree
In matters of speech.
To always live with a smile – is right,
And its not necessary.
Without prayer, there is no harmony.
The true name of light
Is unknown.
Life is given! – and that alone
Is so wonderful.
And the sunrises, and the sunsets,
And the hopes
Give us joy so richly –
As if before.
Mother of God, all doubts –
Are deceitful tricks.
How great (or to my sorrow?)
Is the power of space!
Time is quite neutral to us,
It simply passes.
Ah, it swirls infernally –
Darkness swirls.
And to you I turn
With a gentle word.
I fight with my mind
Against the senseless:
For the power of pride firmly
Squeezes the mind.
Only faith gives wings to man.
Only faith gives wings
To man.
It fills the soul with happiness –
With light happiness.
And there is no other happiness
In our lot.
Help me to draw closer to the light
Of Gods will.
I liked it. Thank you to the author.
Its an amazing painting, the marble-like skin is rendered so naturally, its exquisite, Im speechless...
Of course, the flawless, marble-like skin is evident. I agree! Do you know thats Madonna?
Гениальное изображение Любви Матери к человеку.
The second work by Leonardo from the Hermitage collection was likely painted in Milan during the period when the artist was at the court of Duke Sforza. A preparatory drawing made with a silver pencil is kept in the Louvre. The image of the Madonna depicts a young mother tenderly breastfeeding her child, lost in thought about her sons fate. The interplay of light and shadow makes the figures more expressive and voluminous. The painting Madonna Litta takes its name from the name of the owner of the painting. The painting was acquired by the museum in 1865. The painting was created between the late 1770s and 1491, on a canvas measuring 42x33 cm.
I really like it!
I almost fainted when I saw this painting at the Hermitage! My heart was filled with love for it! Theres a queue around this painting every day. Everyone wants to admire it. But the Madonna isnt alone there: in the Virgin Marys arms is the infant Jesus Christ.
A copy of this painting, the size of a postcard. The canvas has a very coarse texture (chosen specifically to make the copying task more difficult). http://ewaleliwa.in.gallerix.ru/vpic/copy-of-leonardo-da-vinci-s-mado
You cannot comment Why?
The painting Madonna Litta depicts the Virgin Mary tenderly breastfeeding the infant Jesus. Mary is shown in profile, with her head gently bowed, her gaze directed downwards towards her child. She wears a vibrant red gown and a blue mantle, her hair intricately styled and covered by a dark veil. Her left hand supports Jesus, while her right breast is offered to him.
The infant Jesus, painted with soft, rounded forms and rosy cheeks, actively nurses, with his left hand reaching up to touch his mothers breast. His expression is one of contentment and focus on the act of feeding.
The background is split by two arched windows, each revealing a serene, mountainous landscape under a cloudy blue sky. The dark, undefined space behind Mary and Jesus creates a sense of intimacy and draws the viewers attention to the central figures.
