There are too many of them for such a small puddle... like albino leeches.
It could be a warm spring, which would explain it.
nothing is too much... you can still have a couple more...
Well, for the ancient Greeks, Nymphaea was something of a sacred place. They certainly wouldnt have considered it just a puddle. For them, it was no less important than a temple. Its difficult to simply put yourself in the shoes of an ancient people. Especially into those of a leech.

A prominent group in the center features several women on a swing made of vines, suggesting a playful or leisurely activity. To the left, one woman stands with her arms raised, her back to the viewer, while another is crouched by the waters edge. To the right, a cluster of figures are posed on rocks and in the water, with one woman reclining in the foreground. The scene is set against a dark, wooded background, with hints of foliage and possibly some luminous elements that suggest twilight or a magical realm.
The subtexts of the painting are open to interpretation, but several themes can be inferred. The depiction of multiple nude women in a pastoral setting often evokes classical mythology and the concept of nymphs, beings associated with nature and water. This could suggest themes of innocence, purity, fertility, or sensuality. The poses of the women, some graceful and others more relaxed, contribute to an atmosphere of natural beauty and feminine allure. The enigmatic setting, with its dappled light and shadows, can also allude to the mysterious and hidden aspects of nature and perhaps the feminine psyche. The painting invites viewers to contemplate beauty, nature, and the idealization of the female form in art.
