This painting depicts Stonehenge under a dramatic and turbulent sky. Massive, weathered stone sarsen stones stand in their iconic arrangement, some upright, others toppled, creating a sense of ancient grandeur and mystery. The landscape is open and somewhat barren, with a muted palette of earthy browns and yellows for the lower portion of the painting.
The sky is a spectacle of swirling clouds rendered in vibrant blues, purples, and hints of pink and white, suggesting a recent or approaching storm. A prominent rainbow arcs across the upper portion of the image, its arc partially obscured by the dark clouds.
