Beneath this, another face emerges, darker in tone – primarily blues and blacks – and possessing a more angular, almost severe quality. The eyes here are also central but convey an intensity that contrasts with the serenity of the upper visage. A third face is visible beneath the second, exhibiting a youthful appearance and softer features, rendered in muted tones of blue and pink. This lower face seems to be partially obscured by what appears to be a hand or organic growth extending from the side, adding a sense of constraint or enclosure.
The color palette is dominated by cool hues – purples, blues, and blacks – with occasional accents of red and yellow that punctuate the composition. The use of these colors contributes to an overall atmosphere of mystery and psychological depth.
A recurring motif throughout the work is the presence of eyes. Each face features multiple eyes, some centrally placed, others positioned in unexpected locations. This proliferation of eyes suggests themes of surveillance, perception, or perhaps a fragmented sense of self. The layering of faces implies a complex interplay of identities, memories, or psychological states. It could be interpreted as an exploration of the subconscious mind, where different aspects of personality are presented in overlapping and sometimes conflicting ways.
The dark background serves to isolate the figures, intensifying their presence and contributing to a sense of claustrophobia. The overall effect is one of unsettling beauty – a visual representation of inner turmoil or the complexities of human consciousness.
