Painter: Ivan Ivanovich Shishkin
Shishkin has two canvases with the same title, Misty Morning. But both canvases are so beautiful that we want to talk about them. On the first canvas, we see a full-flowing river, on the banks of which grows a forest. Somewhere in the distance the forest is shrouded in mist, but here nearby the mist is barely visible. And whether it has already been here, or whether these shores have yet to plunge into this white veil. But since it’s morning, it’s more likely that the fog has already left this shore and is just drifting away.
Description of Ivan Shishkin’s painting "Misty Morning".
After all, the sun will soon rise, and the fog is very uncomfortable with such proximity. On the canvas, we have a vivid nature and the feeling that everything is moving and swaying. Morning clouds in the sky will soon part, and a new day will begin, but for now, the reverent silence of morning.
On the second canvas, it is the same morning, but only here the river is smaller, and there is not as much forest. But the fog is more visible and it is almost close to us, the viewers. It was just here, but now it is only visible from afar, gently enveloping the forest expanse. The sun has not risen yet and that’s why the fog has a chance to cheer on the bank of the river. The fog is very eager to get wet.
On both canvases you can feel a special relationship to the Motherland, a special love for these endless expanses. Not for nothing they say that Shishkin was and is a true patriot of his Russia. He like no one else was able to convey all the charm, all the beauty, all the elegance of Russian nature. Whatever he portrayed on his canvases always turned out wonderfully simple and subject interesting.
Foreigners have long said that they have always judged the beauty of Russia by Shishkin’s landscapes. Although there have always been enough painters in Russia, but this artist clearly stands out among them the ability to reliably convey the natural beauty of the land, the ability not to embellish, but portray it truly. Not every artist can avoid the temptation of cheapskate drawings, Shishkin, fortunately, avoided this.

The picture has something of this: landscape, water, tree, nature, river, lake, reflection, sky, wood, mountain, scenic, outdoors, fog, mist, summer, daylight, grass, environment.
Perhaps it’s a painting of a body of water with trees and grass in the foreground and a hill in the background with a few clouds in the sky.
