Мне картина не нравится!!!
After reading two books dedicated to Plastov, I still havent understood whether he served in the army, although in the painting Harvest Festival (1937), he depicted himself in a pilots uniform. And from 1939 to 1945, he didnt fight at all! He stayed behind the front lines and worked on depicting nude models (The Tractor Driver hung in his home). However, he painted quite a few patriotic paintings...
Yes, by the way, where did all the other Plastov paintings disappear from the website? Were they taken away for restoration, like in the movie The Elder Robbers?

The title, BEDS Arcade - Theyre coming to the elections, provides a crucial layer of interpretation. The BEDS Arcade part might refer to a specific location or context, possibly a marketplace or a place associated with public gatherings in the artists time. The phrase Theyre coming to the elections strongly suggests that this scene is a representation of people traveling to vote. The image can thus be seen as a commentary on civic participation, the collective spirit of a community, and the journey towards a democratic process. The red flag could symbolize a political party or the broader concept of revolution, depending on the historical context of the painting. The festive elements, like the accordion and the decorated horses, might hint at the importance and perhaps the excitement surrounding elections in that era. The painting captures a moment where everyday life, communal celebration, and political engagement converge.
