The waves are drawn beautifully; I really liked the painting.
the greatest artist in the world. The sea is truly worthy of being captured in this way.
My favorite painting by this artist is...
a beautiful picture
Katya, I cant help but agree with you!
This painting can be admired for hours every day, and each day it will look different.
Despite the fact that Aivazovsky painted similar paintings very often and that he did so in a highly expressive style, without abandoning the signature technique he had developed over the years, I cannot pass by this painting without expressing my admiration: for, in essence, this painting is beautiful, because it depicts celestial light emanating from above, but whose source is completely invisible, penetrating magnificent waters that rise and swell, either from the wind or from some other natural phenomena, but which are unlikely to ever stop, and this, of course, is very beautiful; furthermore, the sky in the background is remarkable: it is dark, somber, calm, and represents the darkness in this painting, but due to the contrast skillfully created by the artist, it forms an integral part of a whole – a painting about the sublimity of nature.
It looks like an abstraction; the waves arent very realistic, but if you consider that he didnt try to make them realistic in the first place, then it turned out wonderfully. Aivazovsky is simply amazing!

The subtext of Among the Waves lies in its exploration of the sublime, a concept that encompasses both beauty and terror. Aivazovsky masterfully portrays the awe-inspiring force of the ocean, highlighting its capacity to both create and destroy. The painting evokes feelings of vulnerability and insignificance in the face of natures might, while simultaneously inspiring a sense of wonder at its grandeur. It can be interpreted as a metaphor for the struggles and challenges of life, where individuals are tossed about by forces beyond their control, yet ultimately must find their own resilience and strength to navigate through them. The dramatic interplay of light and shadow, and the dynamic movement of the water, contribute to a powerful emotional response, inviting the viewer to contemplate their own place within the vastness of the natural world.
