Суперрр!
Просто чудо!
КРАСИВО....
Levitan, any of his paintings are brilliant. He was a genius, even though he was Jewish and lived in poverty during his lifetime, as I read in the series Great Artists. What an irony of fate! But its pleasing that a street in Moscow is named after him. And despite everything mentioned above, lets emphasize this: the question of his Jewish identity fades away. Levitan was a brilliant soul, a wanderer of eternity.

A feeling of gentle sadness evoked by the painting, combined with the disappointment caused by comments from immature individuals, unfortunately!
Александр, я с Вами полностью согласна! Увы!
Autumn is a delight to the eyes, and I find your farewell beauty pleasing... Levitan perfectly captured the words of the famous poet in this painting. I am happy to see this reflected in nature even now. He was an incredibly talented artist.

Captivating Golden Autumn
Among the works of Isaac Ilyich Levitan, the painting Golden Autumn stands out for its optimism, major key notes, and bright perception.
The painting depicts the golden autumn season. The sun illuminates a pleasant landscape: a quiet, calm river with shores overgrown with tall grass, still-green grassy areas, and forests in shades of yellow, red, and orange. A gentle breeze causes the leaves on the trees to tremble and shimmer in the sunlight. The sky is clear and blue, but it lightens on the horizon, where clouds begin to appear. Notably, in the foreground are slender, graceful birch trees adorned in precious golden foliage. They represent the very essence of Russia: stately, light, and beautiful, setting the tone for the entire painting.
In the background, one can see village houses and a wide green field. In this painting, nature takes center stage; the village does not overshadow it but rather harmoniously blends into the surrounding reality.
Overall, the painting evokes the most pleasant and joyful impressions. It is impossible to take your eyes away from the graceful birch trees, and you seem to hear the rustling of their leaves, while in the river, countless inhabitants live their quiet lives.
Autumn (essay)
October is coming to an end, the days are getting shorter and the nights are getting colder. Autumn has arrived. Nature is adorned in its autumn colors, tired trees shed their leaves, and meadows turn golden. Everywhere, the scent of decaying, dry grass fills the air. Nearby, a small river gurgles, occasionally disturbed by fish. Winter is not far away, and rodents scurrying busily through the fields are stocking up on grain for the winter. In the clear, blue sky, birds sing loudly, and flocks of geese diligently hurry south. Cool winds sway the slender branches of the birch trees.
Essay on Levitans painting Golden Autumn
Autumn! How wonderful it is! It is the time of poets and creators of beauty.
Several years after Isaac Levitan painted Golden Autumn, Boris Pasternak wrote a poem:
As if in an exhibition of paintings:
Halls, halls, halls, halls
Of maples, aspens, and rowans
In an unprecedented gold...
Both artists accomplished the impossible. If Pasternak was a master of literature, Levitan was Russias most famous landscape painter. With a stroke of his brush, he managed to achieve what seemed almost impossible – to convey all the beauty of the surrounding world. When you look at the painting Golden Autumn, you can almost hear the quiet, melancholic music about the passing summer.
Look at the canvas. It is mid-autumn. There is no wind. The sun shines not with full force. The surface of the water shimmers with barely perceptible ripples. And the yellow birches shimmer with their golden foliage.
Autumn has dressed the trees in bright orange and yellow colors. In the distance, you can see a row of village houses in green surroundings. This means that this golden queen – autumn – has not yet captured the entire world.
Isaac Levitan is considered the most famous landscape painter in Russia of the nineteenth century. Golden Autumn is one of his most famous paintings. The place depicted in the painting can still be found in the Tver region, near the Ushakov estate. According to experts, it is located on the bank of the Syezh River. The artist was particularly passionate about depicting landscapes of golden autumn. He created over a hundred similar works.
Golden Autumn was painted in 1895. It is currently housed in the Tretyakov Gallery.
The rain was drumming a lively rhythm on the puddles of the muddy village road. The raincoat I was wearing allowed me to stay dry and continue my journey, gazing wistfully upwards from under the hood. The wind rustled through the trees, causing them to shed their leaves. I watched as leaf after leaf fell rapidly to the ground, finding its place among its brethren. Yes, I had chosen a good day for my mushroom hunt. Turning off the main road, I headed towards the fields and birch groves. The rain was gradually stopping. Rays of sunlight began to pierce through the sky, and soon the sky cleared, and the sun reflected in the fresh puddles of rainwater. Inhaling the crisp scent, enjoying the coolness mixed with warmth, I savored the golden autumn. After a while, I reached a hill and saw a breathtakingly beautiful sight: a small stream dividing the grove of slender birches that had already turned their leaves yellow, while the vegetation around them hadnt yet turned yellow! In the distance were fields and farmhouses. The water was like a mirror, reflecting all the colors of autumn. The surrounding landscape blended together so harmoniously, creating a sense of lightness, that I completely forgot about mushrooms, the recent rain, and the gloomy weather. Autumn, hmm, it truly is beautiful!
Levitans Golden Autumn
Over his 25-year artistic career, Isaac Levitan created numerous paintings depicting the beauty of Russian nature in different seasons. One such masterpiece is Golden Autumn. The painting is striking for its realism; one never tires of admiring Levitans masterful brushstrokes, which perfectly capture the vibrant diversity of the native landscape, the direction of the branches, and the flowing rivers.
The landscape was likely painted towards the end of September: the trees had not yet fully changed their foliage from green to yellow and crimson, and the grass still retained its summer greenery. In the foreground is a small river reflecting the outlines of the banks. In the distance, one can see houses – its the outskirts of a village.
Looking at the painting, you feel the warmth of the last rays of sunshine this year. But very soon, the north wind will blow, shaking off the remnants of summer foliage from the birches, and all living things will prepare to meet Mother Winter. And then nature will sleep, dreaming of future warm days...

Levitan was often referred to as the poet of nature because he could perfectly capture all of its contrasts and approached the perception of everything before his eyes, whether it was a sad, melancholic, or humble landscape, with philosophical depth. The painting Golden Autumn, created at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries in 1895, stands out among his other works because it radiates an incredible amount of sunlight, which only enhances its brightness and vibrancy.
Lets talk a bit about who I. Levitan was. He was born into a small family of Jewish origin from Lithuania. His father was remarkably intelligent and resourceful, and he constantly strived to improve the familys financial situation, eventually moving them to Moscow, where Levitans eldest son, Abel, enrolled in an art school. In 1873, Isaac followed in his footsteps.
Persecution and other attacks from people were frequent until Isaac completed his studies. In the mid-1880s, Levitans financial situation was good, and he decided to dedicate himself entirely to painting.
Now, lets talk about the painting itself. Or rather, two paintings. Yes, you are correct; two paintings were created by Levitan with a one-year difference. Most art historians openly say that the artist could not fully convey the meaning of the painting and therefore painted it again, wanting to completely satisfy himself with the written masterpiece. Both paintings were created in the Tver province, in a place called Ostrovno, depicting the Syezha River.
The painting clearly shows the time of year – golden autumn, a season that Levitan, according to his own words, deeply loved. On those rare days when the sun rose and shone with maximum brightness, he tried to capture all its beauty in his painting. The slender birches with their white-yellow hues stand along the edges of the river, reflected in the water, where almost all the colors of autumn are mixed.
The painting was created by Levitan at a very interesting moment – during the decline of Russian Impressionism. At the same time, it turned out to be both characteristic and uncharacteristic for landscape painting by the great artist. On one hand, the work is surprisingly delicate and elegant, yet bright and cheerful with a hint of carelessness. These concepts strictly contradict each other, but they are clearly visible in the painting, allowing us to reason about the artists early works, different from those created after Golden Autumn.
You cannot comment Why?
This painting, Golden Autumn by Isaak Levitan, depicts a serene and vibrant landscape bathed in the warm light of autumn. The foreground is dominated by a gentle slope covered in long, sun-drenched grass, casting dappled shadows from a stand of delicate birch trees with their characteristic white trunks. These trees are adorned with a profusion of golden leaves, gleaming brightly against the clear blue sky.
To the right, a winding river or stream carves its path through the landscape. Its waters are a deep, reflective blue, mirroring the sky and the autumnal foliage along its banks. The riverbanks are a tapestry of earthy tones, with patches of dry grass, reddish-brown brush, and the distant glimmer of yellow and orange leaves.
In the middle ground, a dense line of trees, also predominantly in their golden autumn attire, stretches across the canvas, creating a rich texture of color and form. Beyond them, rolling hills are covered in fields and scattered clusters of trees, hinting at a distant human presence with small, indistinct structures visible on the horizon. Another solitary, brightly lit yellow birch stands prominently in the middle of a field, drawing the eye.
The overall impression is one of tranquil beauty and the ephemeral glory of autumn.
