This painting is magnificent, and the woman sitting and reading a book brings the canvas to life.
The painting is good, but today I need to write an essay about it.
As far as I understand you... I also have to write this essay! =(
Too little! I agree with the girls, especially Darya.

Dear children, you have accidentally stumbled upon a virtual guest book of one of the greatest art museums in the world – our beloved Hermitage. At the library nearest to your home, they will tell you where to find books on writing essays about paintings by great artists from all eras and cultures. As an epigraph, I suggest using the ancient Roman saying: AN ARTIST IS PRAISED BY HIS WORK. We wish you success in life and studies! May there be more joy, goodness, and love in your relationships with the world around us, nature, and people! PEACE TO YOUR HOME!
Vasily Dmitrievich Polenov (1844-1927) was a Russian painter. A member of the Peredvizhniki movement. – See Wikipedia for more information (link provided).
What a captivating and rich oil color! As they say, it creates a sense of presence. Vasily Polenov is a true master painter!
V. D. Polenov. Overgrown Pond (essay based on the painting)
The painting Overgrown Pond by V. D. Polenov is imbued with deep lyricism and a feeling of intense love for the native nature in all its unpretentious beauty.
Who doesnt know those quiet, deserted corners of old, overgrown parks? The painting by Polenov is filled with silence and tranquility. The remarkable artist uses all possible shades of green to depict the secluded, mysterious park. The dark, almost black greenery of the shady corners transitions into a delicate greenish hue in the sun-drenched treetops in the distance.
How enigmatic and serene is the pond overgrown with lilies and algae! It seems that in the evenings, fairytale mermaids come out onto the bridge and, lowering their scaly tails into the water, wait: will some lost passerby emerge from the depths of the park to the pond?
The bank of the pond, covered with lush soft grass and colorful flowers, is flooded with bright sunlight. You want to take off your shoes and walk barefoot on it.
In the distance, in the depths of the park, you can see a small, light female figure. Who is this girl? What memories or thoughts does this abandoned corner of the park evoke in her? Or maybe she is waiting for someone here? What a wonderful place the girl has chosen for rest and contemplation: everything here breathes tranquility, and only the elusive splash of fish and the singing of birds gently intertwine with the sensitive silence of a summer day.
When looking at this beautiful corner of an ancient shady park, which was revealed to us by V. D. Polenov, one is filled with a sense of harmony of life, love for nature, admiration for its beauty and grandeur.
Thats it!
A wonderful painting
I like the painting because a sense of peace and harmony prevails in it.)
Nastya wrote a wonderful essay. The painting is magnificent.
BATIRKHAN IS A BEAUTIFUL COMPOSITION. THE PAINTING IS SUPERB.
Beautiful picture. I just want to sit in the shade of this pond. Its probably easy to think and dream there.
There is so much beauty around us that we see it every day, but we dont notice its charm. How pleasant it is to come to a familiar place one day and enjoy the silence and tranquility.
a masterpiece
The painting is amazing!
Great picture!! Nastya, thank you for the essay.
Great picture!!! )))*
The Overgrown Pond.
Is it possible to create a painting using only one color? The famous Russian realist painter Vasily Polenov managed to do so. The landscape Overgrown Pond is painted almost entirely with a single green hue. Upon closer examination, we see that the artist used other colors as well, but the initial impression is of lush summer greenery. Green grass, green trees, and green water in the pond.
In the foreground, we see the edge of the pond. Its depicted with great care; we can see every blade of grass and every flower. Before us are familiar meadow plants characteristic of central Russia. The artist has portrayed this part of the landscape so meticulously and realistically that it feels as if we ourselves are standing on the bank of the pond. The water in the pond is dark green. Its greenness is further enhanced by reflections of the green tree canopies and lily pads. The pond is truly overgrown; its full of lilies, and along the distant shore, we see dense thickets of reeds.
Old wooden walkways lead down to the water. Perhaps they are so rotten that you can no longer stand on them. But these walkways suggest that someone once cared for the pond, that the water was clean, perhaps people even swam here. Now the pond is overgrown, and the trees surrounding it have grown tall. The artist did not depict this park in as much detail because a person standing on the bank of the pond would not see every single leaf and twig in perfect clarity. Instead, the foliage blends into green patches. Try to count how many shades and nuances of green the artist used in painting this landscape.
One might think that this is not a park but a forest, so much have the trees grown. Nevertheless, its a park – in the middle ground, deep within the alley, we see a woman sitting on a bench. She has come to rest by the pond on a hot summer day, perhaps she used to play here as a child. The mood of the painting is calm and slightly nostalgic. This feeling arises when we think about places where we were once happy.
A great picture

Xusha and everyone else in Blagoveshchensk copied it.
(Licked, licked...)

Wonderful!
Heres the argument I wrote based on this painting:
Vasily Polenovs Overgrown Pond is imbued with a deep sense of love for nature. It emanates peace and tranquility. The pond, overgrown with water lilies and algae, is mysterious and serene. The bank of the pond, covered in lush, soft grass, is bathed in bright sunlight. In the depths of the park, one can glimpse a light female figure. The artist admires the beauty of nature and invites the viewer to appreciate and marvel at the beauty of their homeland.
The painting looks amazing in person!
The painting is good, but the composition is simply terrible.
Awesome painting! Ive always admired the talent of artists. Its so beautiful, how is it even possible to paint like that? Especially with paints!
Not bad, actually very good.
Despite the increased attention to atmospheric perspective, Impressionism was still far off. Russian painting in the late 1870s and early 1880s lagged behind global trends.

Please write an essay.
And there is a lady or an old woman, and what is she holding in her hands?
The essay is just awful – where are the emotions? Its full of clichés from school and newspapers. Did you even try to write something genuine and personal?
You cannot comment Why?
The painting depicts a serene and somewhat wild natural scene in what appears to be a pond or quiet body of water. In the foreground, the dark water is partially covered with lily pads and some lotus flowers, their leaves and blooms scattered across the surface. A fallen log rests at the edge of the pond, near the grassy bank.
To the right of the pond, a wooden jetty or pier juts out over the water, appearing somewhat weathered. Beyond the jetty, a narrow, sun-dappled path winds through lush green grass dotted with small white flowers. Tall reeds and dense foliage line the left bank of the pond, creating a deep green backdrop. A stately tree stands near the jetty, its trunk partially illuminated. Further back, the scene fades into shadowy woods.
In the distance, along the path on the right bank, a solitary figure in a light-colored dress sits on a bench, almost blending into the surrounding vegetation. The overall atmosphere is one of tranquil solitude and the quiet beauty of overgrown nature.
The subtexts in this painting could be interpreted in several ways:
