Эта картина очень красивая, немного даже и страшная как.
На моё мнение картина очень красивая
The painting is remarkable. The composition and color scheme are impeccable. In terms of realism, the painting Old Mill can be compared to the works of I. I. Shishkin. As in many other works by V. D. Polenov, this painting features a human figure who has an influence on nature. How harmoniously the old water mill and the figure of the boy fisherman are integrated into the forest landscape, becoming an integral part of it. Imagine this painting without the boys figure or the mill itself. It would be... empty... The idea is that humans are a part of nature. An important, essential part. Humans can and should live in harmony with nature.
I really love his work, and in my opinion, this is one of his best creations.

The mill is situated beside a tranquil body of water, likely a river or stream, with reeds and aquatic plants growing along its edges. The water reflects the muted tones of the sky and the surrounding vegetation, creating a sense of depth and calm. To the left of the mill, a grassy bank is dotted with wildflowers, and in the foreground of this bank, a lone figure, possibly a child, is seated and observing the water, perhaps fishing.
The atmosphere of the painting is serene and somewhat melancholic, enhanced by the soft, diffused light that suggests either early morning mist or a hazy, overcast day. Lush greenery, including trees and bushes, frames the scene, with dense foliage on the right side of the painting contrasting with the more open meadow on the left.
The subtexts of the painting evoke a sense of nostalgia for a simpler, agrarian past. The old mill itself is a symbol of human ingenuity and labor, but also of time passing and traditions fading. Its weathered appearance suggests a bygone era, perhaps a reflection on the transition from traditional, labor-intensive industries to more modern ones. The solitary figure by the water can be interpreted as representing innocence, contemplation, and a connection to nature. The overall impression is one of quiet beauty, peacefulness, and a reflection on the passage of time and human relationship with the natural world.
