RENUAR
An abundance of feminine forms.
Wonderful portraits of children.
Balanced compositions,
Realistic, though perhaps
Hidden beneath a layer of the obscure.
The eyes of the children shine beautifully.
The artist was quite skilled -
He creates songs with his canvases,
About the world – and it must be clear.
Isnt there too much female flesh?
As if it contains both the pleasure and the essence.
Pleasure – of course, but
Living for pleasure is a false path.
The subtlety of flesh obscures understanding of the world.
And canvases filled with sensuality flow from Renoirs hand,
To live like that would be an absurdity.
Renoirs children are wondrous,
Their clear eyes sparkle and gleam –
What do children know of money or nightmares?
Their connection to the unseen, a secret harmony –
Its as if happiness itself has taken form.
And there is no hardship for these children –
Life is one magical garden.
The depiction of the female body is one of Renoirs favorite subjects. In my opinion, the painting Anna (Nude) is his most successful work in this genre. I find her pose to be modest, her face expressive, and her gaze pleading. She evokes a desire to pity and protect her. I saw this painting (I believe it was the original) at the Pushkin Museum in Moscow. Its located in the excellent section dedicated to French Impressionism. One wants to stand before it for a long time and definitely return to it at the end of viewing the other halls.
I like it.
Thank you for the Renoir collection. I truly enjoyed it and was filled with so many emotions. It was vibrant, bold, and diverse, showcasing both the masters skill and a childlike wonder. I soaked in the landscapes and still lifes. At 57 years old, Im discovering new things. Thank you to the platform and my son for the tablet. You are educators. Wishing you all the best.

Flanking the meadow are steep slopes rising dramatically on either side. These hillsides are rendered in muted earth tones – ochres, browns, and greens – with indications of dense vegetation clinging to their surfaces. The artist employed a technique that softens the edges of these formations, creating an atmospheric perspective which diminishes their apparent distance.
In the middle ground, a range of mountains rises above the valley floor. Their peaks are partially obscured by haze, lending them a sense of grandeur and mystery. Hints of snow cling to the higher elevations, suggesting altitude and seasonal conditions. The sky is rendered in soft yellows and creams, contributing to the overall feeling of tranquility and warmth.
The composition’s structure directs the viewers eye from the foreground cattle towards the distant mountains, establishing a clear sense of depth. A few scattered trees are positioned along the right side of the meadow, their forms providing vertical accents against the horizontal expanse of the valley floor. The placement of these trees also serves to frame the view and draw attention to the central vista.
Subtly, the painting conveys an impression of pastoral harmony. The presence of livestock suggests a cultivated landscape, while the vastness of the surrounding mountains hints at untamed wilderness. This juxtaposition implies a relationship between human activity and the natural world – a theme often explored in depictions of idealized landscapes. The subdued palette and soft lighting contribute to a mood of quiet contemplation, inviting the viewer to appreciate the beauty and serenity of this remote valley.
