The palette is largely earth-toned: ochres, browns, and muted yellows prevail, suggesting a sun-drenched environment perhaps characterized by dry vegetation or arid terrain. A lighter area at the top introduces a pale greyish-white, possibly representing sky or distant light, but it too is broken into angular shapes rather than offering a seamless expanse.
The artist has eschewed traditional perspective and depth cues. Instead of receding planes, we encounter overlapping forms that flatten the pictorial space. This creates an ambiguity regarding foreground and background; elements appear simultaneously close and distant, contributing to a disorienting effect. The lack of clear spatial relationships emphasizes the formal qualities of shape and color over any attempt at realistic representation.
The overall impression is one of controlled abstraction. While recognizable landscape features are present – suggested hills or terrain – they are deconstructed and reassembled according to an underlying geometric logic. This approach implies a deliberate distancing from direct observation, favoring instead a conceptual exploration of form and structure. The work evokes a sense of stillness and quietude, but also a subtle tension arising from the fractured nature of the scene. It is not so much about depicting a place as it is about analyzing its constituent elements and re-presenting them in a new visual order.
