The painting The Cloud depicts a vast, open landscape under a dramatic sky. The foreground is dominated by a lush green field, with subtle variations in shade suggesting gentle contours. A dark, winding path or road cuts diagonally through the field, drawing the viewers eye into the distance.
The middle ground reveals a hazy horizon, with hints of fields, scattered trees, and perhaps distant buildings. The colors here are muted, with soft blues and purples blending into the greens and yellows of the land.

A towering, cumulus cloud of brilliant white, illuminated by unseen sunlight, commands the center of the sky. It has a majestic, almost sculptural quality, casting soft shadows that give it depth and volume. Surrounding this central cloud are smaller, more wispy clouds, some tinged with pink and lavender, suggesting the soft light of either dawn or dusk. The blue of the sky transitions from a deep, rich tone at the top to a lighter, hazy shade near the horizon.
