Divine! Both the concept and the execution are exceptional. There seems to be no limit to perfection in the hands of such a Master. The forms of the figures and draperies, set against the beautiful landscape, along with the color palette, are all wonderful. Everything is excellent. I would only like to know what restorers did to the head of the Christ Child. More precisely, not *what* they did, but *why* the back of this head is so distorted – because in reproductions from before the restoration, the head looks perfectly normal and harmonious in proportions. And, in my opinion, Raphael could not have deformed this head in such a way that its so jarring to look at. This level of distortion isnt seen anywhere else in his other works; everything is super-harmonious and super-perfect.
You cannot comment Why?
This painting, likely Raphaels Madonna of the Goldfinch, depicts the Virgin Mary seated in a lush, natural landscape, holding two young children.
