Не знаю, почему приписывается, но в этом "Автопортрете" лично я вижу некоторые базовые, опорные "точки", от которых далее шло развитие портретной живописи Рембрандта. В "оригиналах" же есть наоботрот, менее яркие и уверенные образцы работ мастера в этом жанре.
