Приписывается! Этот шедевр, на мой взгляд, должен принадлежать ему, Рембрандту, по полному праву! Свобода письма, глубина разработки, владение всеми средствами живописи и т.д. О-че-видно!

The artist has rendered the womans age with unflinching realism. Deep wrinkles furrow her brow and frame her eyes, while skin texture is meticulously depicted, conveying a sense of lived experience and time’s passage. Her lips are thin and slightly downturned, suggesting a quiet melancholy or perhaps resignation. The eyes themselves hold a complex mixture of weariness and an underlying resilience; they seem to gaze directly at the viewer with a penetrating intensity.
The headscarf is rendered in rich, saturated tones of red, contrasting sharply with the muted palette of her skin and clothing. Its folds create a sense of volume and texture, drawing the eye across its surface while also partially obscuring her hair. The fabric’s color might be interpreted as symbolizing dignity or perhaps a connection to tradition and faith.
The lighting is dramatic, employing chiaroscuro techniques to highlight certain areas of the face while leaving others in deep shadow. This creates a sense of depth and three-dimensionality, emphasizing the contours of her features and adding an element of mystery to her expression. The light seems to emanate from an unseen source above and slightly to the left, illuminating the right side of her face and casting the other into darkness.
Beyond a straightforward depiction of old age, the painting evokes themes of mortality, resilience, and perhaps even spiritual contemplation. The woman’s direct gaze suggests a willingness to confront the viewer with the realities of aging and the passage of time. There is an inherent dignity in her portrayal; despite the visible signs of age, she carries herself with a quiet strength that transcends physical appearance. The darkness surrounding her could be interpreted as symbolic of the unknown or the challenges faced throughout a long life.
