Valentin A. Serov’s painting Children was painted in 1899 as a group portrait, but it turned out to be quite a diverse work. This picture depicts 2 sons of V.A. Serov. They are 7-year-old Sasha and 5-year-old Jura. They are the main heroes of the picture. These boys are standing on the terrace of the cottage. The gaze of the older boy is fixed on the view of the Gulf of Finland and the evening sky in front of him.
Description of Valentin Serov’s painting Children
The younger brother is looking at the viewer. This is a genre painting, but it is also a portrait of 2 boys. Both boys are dressed alike. That said, both boys are quite similar, their hair is dark, it is curly, and it falls haphazardly on their foreheads.
In the painting, one can also see the difference in the children’s characters. The older brother observes with concentration the picture of the evening bay opening in front of him, the younger one looks dreamily and thoughtfully ahead. The children’s characters are subtle and masterfully portrayed through their gestures and poses. The objectivity of this character transfer is conveyed when the child is alone and serenely observing what is going on around him.
In addition to the main characters, the children, the artist has depicted in detail the bay open to the viewer, small boats moored to the shore. Some are floating on the water surface in the distance.
All the images conveyed by the artist, successfully and harmoniously related to each other. The water surface, and the darkening sky, show that the artist wanted to show the evening sky, heavy clouds.
The painting in front of us is both a portrait, a genre scene, and a landscape. Serov painted this painting not to order, but for himself. Both boys turned out in natural poses, they merge with the landscape. We appear before us a single plot. The viewer can easily catch the mood that the artist wanted to convey, and which he himself was in when he wrote this portrait.
The painting is in the State Russian Museum.

Два отрока... Всяк грезит о своём...
Я вас хочу что бы вы мне об этой картине расскозали
sposibo "otlichno"

You cannot comment Why?
The picture has something of this: wear, people, two, man, woman, mammal, veil, dog, water, vintage, outdoors, portrait, reflection.
Perhaps it’s a painting of a boy and a girl standing on a balcony looking out at the ocean with a boat in the distance and a cloudy sky in the background.
