SUMMER
Its as if Im forgetting how to do something.
And in this oppressed state,
I remember the summer glimmer –
How much I loved summer when I was a child.
How vast the sea used to be!
Living in Anapa was so cozy.
Nourishing, like milk,
The dense summer quenched my thirst.
In the morning, on the seashore,
Crabs, crabs... in swirls of foam.
I was sure I could escape,
And we did... Oh, how I wish it were still that way!
The waters surface shimmers slightly golden,
Reflecting a greenish hue.
Is that a school of fish swimming by?
Or is it just the misty shade of the depths...?
Later, I lived near Kaluga,
At my aunt and uncles dacha... Summer
Became more intense, it was wonderful.
I loved those twilight hours.
And that dacha world felt to me
In a greenish, lush array –
Here are the vegetable beds, so ripe and juicy.
We pick strawberries with my mother.
Now summer is boredom, dust,
Going to work... That is,
I have grown older, and so it is
With my life – but still,
My story continues, even though I dont like this style.

The color palette is predominantly green and blue, reflecting the lushness of the environment and the clarity of the sky. The artist employed a technique that emphasizes the interplay of light and shadow, creating a sense of atmospheric perspective. The distant landscape appears softened and muted in comparison to the foreground elements, which are rendered with greater detail and intensity.
Beyond the straightforward depiction of nature, the painting conveys a feeling of tranquility and stillness. The absence of human figures contributes to this atmosphere, suggesting a moment of solitude and contemplation within the natural world. The composition’s simplicity – the arrangement of trees, vegetation, and sky – hints at an appreciation for the inherent beauty of the countryside. One might interpret the sunflowers as symbols of optimism and growth, their faces turned towards the sun representing hope and vitality.
The brushwork itself contributes to the overall impression. The visible strokes create a sense of immediacy and spontaneity, suggesting that the artist was attempting to capture a fleeting moment in time – the essence of a summer day. This approach moves beyond mere representation toward an exploration of sensory experience and emotional response to nature.
